It’s difficult to imagine Ireland without Whiskey. We are renowned for the high calibre whiskeys we’ve produced over the years with our distilleries bursting at the seams with flocks of tourists. It is no big surprise then that events like Whiskey Live are so popular here. Recently, I wrote an article about unique cocktail recipes from some of Dublin’s well known characters. The feedback was amazing, since then I’ve been asked for some whiskey specific cocktail recipes for events. I decided to hit up one of Dublin’s best cocktails bars, The Liquor Rooms to see what they had to say. Their reputation precedes them so I know these won’t disappoint! Alan who is holding the reigns at the bar had the following recommendations to make…
Potent Potable,
Jameson Black Barrel – Apricot Brandy – Ginger Liqueur – Angostura & Choco Bitters
“Originally we made this drink for the Irish Cocktail Festival 2014, This single serving bottle cocktail got so much great feedback we had to add it to our new menu.”
Redleg Rebellion
Teeling’s Small Batch – TLR Orange Curacao – Falernum – Pineapple Cordial – Lime Juice
“Named after the irish immigrants who worked on the railways with the african slaves, they were nicknamed the ‘Redlegs’ as they would get sunburnt on their pale skin legs from working long days in the sun.”
Emerald Ailment
Jameson – Sweet vermouth – Kamm & Sons Ginseng Spirit – Angostura, Plum & Mace Bitters
“A Twist on the classic ‘Emerald’ cocktail, Which is the Irish version of a Manhattan. A drink known well throughout almost every cocktail bar worth their salt.”
Dearg Dew
Tullamore DEW – TLR Hibiscus Cordial – Falernum – Saline – Lemon Juice
“Named after the Irish folklore tale of ‘Dearg Due’, a story which is said to have inspired Bram Stokers Dracula. A tale of a woman scorned who came back from the dead to reap revenge on her father and husband by draining them of their blood.”
