Haunted Spooktacular is back for 2015 with a whole host of new attractions. Visitors who dare to step inside their worst nightmare at Haunted Spooktacular will find that the team has cranked up the fear level to EXTREME! The Team behind Haunted Spooktacular Horror Farm Ben – Lucy and Joe Dillon – plan to make 2015 their scariest yet, with a whole host of new and horrifying attractions. Whether you’re a fan of Horror Movies or Halloween, love to be terrified or just enjoy the detail of a highly interactive one-of-a-kind experience, Haunted Spooktacular has something for everyone.
Some of their new features for 2015 include:
- Infinity is the first mirror maze constructed for a scare attraction in Ireland. This perfectly engineered reflective nightmare is full of dark ghouls of horror. You’ll find yourself lost and confused when you’re thrown into the Infinity and the creatures of the night aren’t the only thing you have to worry about!
- Journey into the Asylum, filled with the crazy and the kooky, can you survive the nightmare? It’s filled with dangerous and unique features from an abandoned hospital and will test your nerve, guts, and instincts.
- In the 1700s the headmaster went on a massacre, killing all the children in the school. Find your way through darkened hallways and rooms coming across the lost souls of the children that still haunt this abandoned school, and if you don’t watch out you’ll be next. This feature is called School House Massacre.
- Finally there is Hillbilly Horrors at Redneck Creek. Find yourself trapped deep inside the village of Redneck Creek, hunted down by cannibalistic mountain men grossly disfigured through generations of inbreeding.
We sat down with one of the founders, Ben Dillion, of this hellish attraction to learn more about why they want to scare everyone!
Where did you pull the idea from?
We started a children’s Halloween event in 2004 and we progressed into the teenage market in 2008, which was just by chance really. From 2010 we pushed the teenage market and it grew from there.
Were there many of you involved?
At the start it was my father, my late mother, Pat & Therese Dillon and I. From 2010 all the family came on board and now it is a family run company.
Where do you get your kicks from doing this?
We love this business, we live for it every year! We can become our true selves once a year and are allowed to get away with it. We love scaring people, it’s as simple as that!
What’s made it so successful?
The business grew into a big event from 2012 onwards. That’s because we started to push the marketing, online booking and new website. From then on we budget every year to bring out new attractions, we want to keep it fresh. This year we changed 50% of the attractions and we know this is why people come back each year to see what we have done differently.
There have been a few people trying similar ideas. What makes Spooktacular special?
We are the longest running adult and teenage event in Ireland; we’ve nailed that market. This year we are pushing it into the extreme market with a section for over 18s for an extra cost called Alone.
What can people expect from Spooktacular for 2015?
This will be Ireland’s sickest attraction, nowhere in Ireland is doing anything like us! It will be traumatic, horrifying and there will be the ticket option of Alone for people that really want to be terrified! You even have to sign a disclaimer before going into the attraction.
If you could start all over again, what would you change?
If we were to start all over again, we would have gone online sooner with Eventbrite!
