Dr. Roland Petraschworked as a professor and researcher for software engineering at universities mainly in Germany. He previously worked as a software engineer at Nixdorf and Lufthansa. He currently works as an independent researcher and consultant. He was a speaker at international conferences and published books and articles (seeResearchGate.net). His latest book is about Data Quality (dqman.org). His current research interests include Semantic Layer for AI Applications, Spec-Driven Development, Data Quality.

AI-assisted applications are everywhere, what's the source of truth for the systems and for the data they run on? This event tackles both.

Dr. Alexander Binder, Asst. Professor at Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), will introduce deep learning and talk about decisions of neural networks and layer-wise relevance propagation. After the talk (about 1.5h) a hands-on session (1h) exemplifies the approach so that the participants gain some practical experience.
Alexander (Alex) Binder obtained a Ph.D. degree at the department of computer science, Technical University Berlin in 2013. Before he held a Diplom degree in mathematics from the Humboldt University Berlin. Since 2007, he has been working for the THESEUS project on semantic image retrieval at Fraunhofer FIRST where he was the principal contributor to top five ranked submissions at ImageCLEF2011 and Pascal VOC2009 challenges. From 2012 to 2015 he worked on real-time car localization topics in the Automotive Services department (ASCT) of the Fraunhofer Institute FOKUS. From to 2010 to 2015 he was with the Machine Learning Group at the TU Berlin. He likes to program in C++, knows a bit about internals of the Caffe toolbox and is using here and there python. His research interests include computer vision, medical applications, machine learning (kernel machines and deep learning), efficient heuristics and understanding non-linear predictions. We are going to exchange about architecture, technologies trends, companies’ cultures that are so important nowadays. If you join, you will be able to meet Chanwit Kaewkasi, the only Docker Captain in Bangkok and other key members within the IT community in Bangkok.

"It’s Good to be an Architect - Architecture is more relevant than ever"
Some companies associate the title "architect" with people who draw pictures in the ivory tower, are out of touch with reality, and make poor decisions driven by the quest for irrelevant and unobtainable technical ideals. Others feel that modern software architecture lives in the code and is not needed as a dedicated function.
Architecture is more relevant than ever, though! Modern architectures are distributed, stateless, horizontally scalable, continuously updatable,resilient and ideally antifragile. Building such systems takes some serious architecture and serious architects. On top of the technical architecture, traditional companies who are realizing that IT is moving from a mere cost center to a critical business enabler need architects playing to play a key role as the connecting element between business and IT. Being a software or IT architect is not so bad after all…
This leaves the question, though, what makes an architect an architect? It’s surely more than just technical knowledge. Communication is equally important but also not sufficient. Architects combine many skills and think in patterns and abstractions. And if we figured out what makes an architect how do we differentiate a junior from a senior one.
This talk takes a lighthearted and serious look at architecture and architects in the digital world.
Speaker Bio:
As Chief IT Architect at Allianz, Gregor is responsible for driving the digital transformation of the insurance business. He is a recognized thought leader on asynchronous messaging architectures and is widely known as co-author of the seminal book “Enterprise Integration Patterns”.
