About this Event

The quotation used in the title is taken from "In Memory of my Father" by Patrick Kavanagh. This talk by Dr Una Agnew looks at Kavanagh's influence on the younger poet Heaney, with emphasis on some of the parallels that link these two great Irish poets together. About the speaker: Dr Una Agnew is a leading Kavanagh scholar whose book The Mystical Imagination of Patrick Kavanagh: A Buttonhole in Heaven published in 1998 (The Columba Press), re-issued 2017 ( Veritas) broke new ground in the study of Patrick Kavanagh's work, She grew up in Co Louth, not far from the village of Inniskeen, birthplace of the poet. She now lives in Dublin.
