About this event

Walk in the footsteps of the heroes of 1916.

This tour will delve into the history of the Easter Rising of 1916 from its inception to its conclusion. Starting at the epicentre of the fighting during Easter week, we will walk through early 20th century Dublin. Discover the history of cultural nationalism at the Abbey Theatre as well as the Labour Movement of Jim Larkin and James Connolly at Liberty Hall.

Learn about the men who printed the Proclamation of the Irish Republic on the night before the Rising and of the women of the Irish Citizens Army.

March the same route as the Irish Volunteers as they made their way to the GPO on Easter Monday before standing and discover just some of the stories from Easter week 1916.

Follow the rebels escape from the GPO towards Moore Street and the headquarters of the Irish Republic at number 16 Moore Street.

Finally we will see the site of Pearse's surrender and the Garden of Remembrance where the rebels were brought after the fighting in 1916.
