Event description
SEAI and the DCCAE would like to invite you to the first annual National Energy Research and Policy Conference on the 20th November

About this Event

The theme of this year’s conference is the “Transformation of Ireland’s Electricity Sector”

This full-day conference, will be co-hosted by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) and the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment (DCCAE). The purpose of the conference is to facilitate discussion on the role of energy research and policy in the achievement of Ireland’s long term clean energy goals. It aims to ensure that energy policy development and implementation is informed by the best scientific advice possible, and that researchers are aware of current and future energy policy priorities.

In the recently published All-of-Government Climate Action Plan to tackle climate breakdown, a target was included for 70% of electricity to come from renewable sources by 2030. This particular challenge will be a focal discussion point at the National Energy Research and Policy Conference, which will have a conference theme of - Transformation of Ireland’s Electricity Sector.

Speakers include:

  • Richard Bruton TD, Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment (DCCAE)
  • Ken Cleary, Assistant Principal, Climate Change Unit, Department of Public Expenditure and Reform
  • Eamonn Confrey, Electricity Policy Principal Officer, DCCAE
  • Paul Deane, Research Fellow, University College Cork
