Event description
2021 Theatre Foundation Programme South South West Hospital Group

About this Event

The South South West Hospital Group Theatre Foundation Programme is a 15 Week Programme in the fundamentals of Theatre Nursing Practice with 4 virtual theoretical days. Over 120 nurses in the hospital group have undertaken the programme over the last five years.

We are delighted to be able to deliver this Programme again in 2021.

While previous course theoretical days have been face to face, owing to the Covid-19 Pandemic and the restrictions currently in place, the 2021 course will be delivered by a virtual platform. The Virtual Platform will be the ZOOM teleconferencing platform.

A short test session for the virtual platform will be undertaken on Friday 15th January 2021 , all candidates must attend the test session.

This is to ensure optimal engagement for candidates on each day of the course and any IT issues can be dealt with.

The programme provides a framework for registered nurses to support their transition (from general clinical settings) to the Operating Department. The Programme captures the changing nature of competency development and provides concrete evidence of competence in practice.

The programme takes place over a period of fifteen weeks. 4 Virtual theoretical days are incorporated into the fifteen week period. Clinical competencies are achieved in the participant parent hospital under the supervision of a mentor. Mentors are nominated by the CNM2/CNM3 of the operating department.
