TU Dublin Conservatoire | 8-10 June 2023
Registration is now open for the SMI’s annual conference, which will be hosted at TU Dublin Conservatoire, 8–10 June 2023. We are delighted to welcome Prof. Elaine Kelly (University of Edinburgh) as the keynote speaker, who will give a lecture on:
‘Musical Contact Zones of International Socialism: East Germany and the Postcolonial World’
We are pleased to announce that the first day of the conference, Thursday 8 June, coincides with a symposium hosted by TU Dublin Conservatoire held in conjunction with the Irish Research Council, the ITMA (Irish Traditional Music Archive) and the Princess Grace Irish Library (PGIL). The symposium – ‘Irish-American Music Cultures’ – will run parallel to the conference sessions, with the keynote, all papers and concerts open to SMI delegates. The full schedule for both the SMI Conference and the Irish-American Music Cultures Symposium will be available shortly.

Conference fee
The conference fee includes access to the PGIL Symposium (Thursday), lunch (Thursday and Friday), refreshments (Thursday, Friday and Saturday), concerts and a wine reception.
Conference dinner
The conference dinner will be at PHX Bistro, Ellis Quay, Dublin 7. The €40 fee covers a three-course set menu, including a service charge of 12.5%. Please note that drinks are not included. If you have any dietary requirements, please email Conference Secretary, Helen Doyle, at smiconference2023@gmail.com. Please note this must be booked by 23rd May at 1pm.
SMI Membership
