Description

A fantastic event featuring a range of art forms to celebrate the exchange of culture promoted by ‘TRES’, the first Brazilian cultural centre in County Wicklow.

Showcasing both local and international Art and Creativity; from talented musicians, crafts people, chefs, Brazilian products, talks and workshops. We invite you to experience Brazilian culture on the 27th of August. Brazil Meets Bray is a family friendly event with some recreation for kids sponsored by Want A Job.

Sounds of Brazil come to Bray

Harbour Bar Stage

1:00pm Jazz band Blue Moon: An exciting performance of the great Jazz band “Blue Moon” that comprises Andy Smith on saxophone, vocals and percussion, Marion Smith on vocals and guitar and Zeca Munhoz on drums, percussion and guitar. All are based in county Wicklow. Together they will present a Brazilian Jazz mix.

2:00pm Luana Matos and Robson Rocha: Two versatile musicians from Brazil, Luana Matos and Robson Rocha bring all the flavour and swing of Bossa Nova. Together they will take you through a journey of enthralling music and entertainment. These artists are well established in the Brazilian music scene and are all based in Dublin.


3:00pm Music Together with Zeca Munhoz: Zeca will be running drumming workshops for all group sizes. He will provide lots of drums and percussion instruments to try. The musical material is very flexible, starting from a samba/samba-reggae rhythmic centre. This promises to be a great workshop, lots of fun and networking opportunities amongst professional and amateur musicians.

4:00PM A representation of traditional Maracatu Ilha Brilhante, which is a gathering of Maracatu players from the four corners of Ireland. They will offer an energetic and vibrant dance, mixing both African and Brazilian rhythms. It is an opportunity not to be missed. Maracatu originates from the North of Brazil. An Area that is very rich in Culture and Beautiful natural resources.

The taste of Brazil comes to Bray

1-6pm (or until the food is gone!) Food stalls that will give your taste buds a complete workout, providing authentic dishes with different flavours from Brazil, Delicious traditional Brazilian cuisine will be available throughout the event, with stalls supplying a range of enticing food produced right here in Ireland by Brazilian master chefs.

Tres Brazilian Cultural Centre Arts, Craft &

Upstairs Harbour Bar area

1-6pm

Tres Brazilian Cultural centre for the very first time will present a Brazilian craft fair, Combined with an interactive presentation by the Wicklow Patchwork Group, Patchwork is very much associated with Brazilian Culture and this will provide an opportunity for visitors to discover this beautiful art form for the first time.

University Unigran Ireland

Celebrating 10 years in Europe this year, Unigran Ireland is an online-based university that will be at the Brazil Meets Bray event for the very first time. Unigran Ireland will have a special stall where Portuguese speakers can have the chance to discover the full range of online courses available from this unique University. It is a great opportunity to meet and discuss academic interests with Heloisa and Luiz the Unigran representatives who will be present on the day from 1 to 6pm.

A Presentation by the Wicklow patchwork group from 2pm to 2:30pm

3:00pm Creating Spaces of Expression

As part of the 2nd edition of 'Brazil meets Bray' we will be hosting a workshop” Creating Spaces of ExpressionThis workshop will focus on Arts, Culture and sports and will be facilitated by Godfrey Chimb. All are welcome, but you must RSVP, as the number of seats will be limited.

The event will showcase vibrant, compelling and multicultural works from a variety of Art forms including performances, Cocktail tasting with the traditional Brazilian “Cachaca” plus lots of raffle prizes!
