About this event
We are delighted to announce details of our 50th Anniversary Gala Concert, taking place on December 1st 2022.
Following on from the amazing success of our May 2022 Concert for Peace, “The Armed Man” by Karl Jenkins, we got to work on the programme for our Anniversary Concert. 50 years of singing is a lot of music and we wanted our concert to reflect the huge range of different genres, we have performed since 1972. But where to start?
Our historical repertoire includes works from the great classical composers such as Bach, Handel, Mozart, Vivaldi, and Fauré, with choral music from more contemporary greats such as Willcocks, Rutter, Jenkins, Lauridsen, Chilcott, Whitacre, Gjeilo and Goodall. Movie and theatre music from Williams, Morricone, Gershwin, Schonberg, Mancini, Lloyd Weber, Tim Rice, Bjorn Ulvaeus. And popular classics from Billy Joel, Gorden Sumner (Sting), Carly Simon, Don McClean, Rolf Lovland, Leonard Cohen, and Queen. Irish composers such as David Mooney, T.C. Kelly, Sue Furlong, Elaine Agnew, Enya, Brendan Graham and Grace O’ Duffy. And in addition, a myriad of folk, traditional and spiritual music to choose from.
In addition we welcome guest musicians and in particular, Zoë Conway and John Mc Intyre “With an exciting blend of eclectic fiddle and guitar music, Zoë Conway and John Mc Intyre bring to the stage sympathetic arrangements of traditional Irish music, compositions and songs, old and new. The husband-and-wife folk duo possess a rare facility to draw pieces into their repertoire from other genres such as classical, jazz and world music and express this material in way which not only displays the sheer range and knowledge of both instrumentalists but also exhibits the wonderful versatility of their instruments”.
Please join us on our concert night, THURSDAY DECEMBER 1ST, AT 8pm to The Church of Our Lady and St. David, Sallin’s Road, Naas, to celebrate our special anniversary.
