About this event

We are delighted to launch the programme for the 62nd Yeats International Summer School. For the first time in its distinguished history, the School will be delivered online, offering lectures and seminars on a weekly basis between June and August.

We appreciate that many visitors will miss the opportunity to visit Yeats’ Land of Heart’s Desire – Sligo – and we hope to be back in person in 2022, making people welcome to this beautiful place, which is so steeped in Yeats and his family.

However, as is our custom, we are delivering a very high level of academic lectures and talks. We believe that the weekly delivery of lectures will encourage a wider audience to get involved and attend what will be an engaging and challenging programme. There are also four weekend seminars to allow students a deeper exploration of Yeatsian work.

We aim to deliver a number of in person events in Sligo between 29th-31st July, depending on Government Covid-19 advice at that time.

On behalf of Yeats Society Sligo, I would like to thank co-directors Professor Lauren Arrington and Professor Charles I Armstrong for their great work in creating and curating this programme. We look forward to making you welcome online to the longest running literary summer school in the world.

Lectures: €10 each

All ten lecturers: €85

Five lectures: €45

Those interested in attending a seminar should email us in the first instance: info@yeatssociety.com. Tickets will be sold privately.

Please tell us which seminar/s you would like to attend and we will aim to ensure that people get their first choice.

There are four seminars.

Philip Coleman: Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th, 2pm-4pm: 'Meditations in Time of Civil War'.

Lucy Collins: Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th, 2pm-4pm: 'Yeats and Domestic Space'.

Guy Beiner: Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th, 2pm-4pm: 'Reflecting on the Decade of Centenaries'.

Rosie Lavan: Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th, 2pm-4pm: 'Late Plays: Purgatory and The Death of Cuchulain'.

Those hoping to attend seminars must also attend at least five lectures.

We know that demand will be high for the limited 12 places on each seminar. Students may attend only one seminar.

Seminars: €15 each

Yeats Society members may attend four lectures for free. Please register at info@yeatssociety.com so a link can be forwarded to you when the time comes.
