Event description

Description

‘…one of Ireland’s finest poets and novelists… A treasured author who produced a magnificent body of work that enriched Irish writing,’

President Michael D. Higgins said as he led the tributes to Hollyfort poet and author, Philip Casey, when he died in February this year.

Now, Philip's family and close friend Michael Considine, together with the help of the Gap Arts Festival, Hollyfort Community, and Gorey Municipal District, are hosting A Day for Philip, a celebration of his life and work, on Sunday June 24th.

At 2.30pm a plaque with his name will be unveiled near where he lived at Grove Mill, followed by readings from his works by fellow poets and writers in St John’s Church, Hollyfort, and refreshments in the Old School. All are welcome.
