About this event
This is an enchanting experience through Ravensdale Park to Jonesborough ancient Graveyard. This lush forest walk within the Ring of Gullion brings us through the Fortescue estate of Thomas, Lord Clermont. Hear the history of the life and loves of Thomas, and visit the legacy of this exquisite demesne through hidden follies, cottages and magnificent arboretum. Visit his final resting place. Along the way meditate and immerse your senses in a quiet beech circle to the sound of the Flurry river. Afterwards enjoy an organic drink and homebakes in the shade of giant fir trees.
The Clermont Estate straddled the Flurry River from Jonesborough to Carlingford. It provided for the education, employment and religious freedom of the local population during the 19th Century.
This immersive walk in nature allows us to relax and destress, while providing a humorous insight into the lives of the "Downtown Abbey" set during this period. Particularly suitable for families and those who enjoy exploring hidden trails.
Some inclines. Terrain is on marked tracks and within a forest environment throughout. Lots of fun and food!
