Event description

Description

We present an evening of poetry and history which will share a focus on Dublin’s Portobello neighbourhood. We are proud to welcome the award-winning poet and former Ireland Chair of Poetry, Harry Clifton, to Books Upstairs. Clifton will read from his most recent collection Portobello Sonnets (Bloodaxe Books, 2016) and we will also explore some of the social history of the neighbourhood with historian and Books Upstairs founder Maurice Earls. This is not just an evening for fans or inhabitants of Dublin 8, but an opportunity to hear Clifton perform his own celebrated poetry and to delve into the atmosphere and past of a unique area of Dublin city.

Tickets (€5) are available from Eventbrite, or visit/phone Books Upstairs directly to avoid the booking fee.
