The programme will cover the following:
Feb 2: Historical Background and Biography of Sean O’Casey.
Feb 9: Week 2: Act 1: Setting and Themes: Introduction to the Boyle Family.
Feb 16: Week 3: Act 2: Characterisation, Language, Plot.
Feb 23: Week 4: Terry Fagan, Local Historian, North Inner City History Project: Talk on the area where the play is set.
Mar 2: Week 5: Act 3: Conclusion, Message.
This five-week workshop is designed for the newcomer to the works of Sean O’Casey, so no prior knowledge of the play or dramatist is required. As the workshop is participative, it is strongly advised that you have a copy of the play and that you are open to engaging in group discussions. Work sheets will be emailed to participants in advance of each session. The expectation is that the experience is enjoyable, informative, and relaxing.
