Description
The Department of Government, UCC, will host a Symposium on the 2017 French presidential election on 30 March 2017. Designed to be one of the most predictable elections of the last twenty years, it has turned out to be the most exciting and the most challenging for the institutions of the Fifth Republic.
With experts in French politics dissecting the many twists and turns of this election, this symposium hopes to draw out the key challenges that France is facing at the domestic, European and international level.

She moved to Ireland and completed her PhD in UCD on the institutional impact of administrative reforms in the European Commission. She currently researches and teaches in European and French politics.
