ADHD & SUD (Substance use disorders)

ADHD is a childhood neurodevelopmental disorder that can persist into adulthood. ADHD can be associated with the development of substance use disorders (SUD), often at a very early age and with a faster transition from less severe to more serious SUD. Patients with ­ADHD and SUD show more complex and chronic patterns of substance use, including more poly-substance use.

Professor Susan Young (UK) will be giving this talk which will explore and explain this critical issue.

This talk is aimed at parents of children with ADHD and adults with ADHD.

Susan J. Young, BSc (Hons), DClinPsy, PhD, CSi, AFBPS:

Professor Susan Young is a clinical and forensic psychologist and a practitioner neuropsychologist with over 20 years working in clinical academia.

Susan participated in the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) ADHD Clinical Guideline Development Group (2008;2013) and the British Association of Psychopharmacology ADHD Consensus Meetings (2007;2013).

She is President of the UK ADHD Partnership, Vice-President of the UK Adult ADHD Network, Trustee of The ADHD Foundation and on the Professional Advisory Board of ADHD Europe.
