‘Clear, relevant, structured’

What you need to know already

Just basic Mac or PC computer skills: how to use a keyboard and mouse (or trackpad); how to open and save files; how to undo, copy and paste. An eye for detail and great composition and design is an advantage, but by no means essential.

Workshop information

There will be a maximum of six participants. Individual needs will be catered for where possible. If you have particular access or learning requirements, please contact us before booking.

The workshop will run from 10am–5pm on both days, with an hour for lunch and breaks for refreshments in the mornings and afternoons.

Refreshments will be provided throughout the two days. Lunch isn’t provided (but there is lots of choice in the local area).

We can provide PC laptops for you to use in the workshop (these spaces must be booked at least ten days in advance so we know how many to bring), or you can bring your own Mac or PC laptop if you’d prefer to work on a familiar machine (and save €80).

If you bring your own laptop, it should have Adobe Photoshop installed before the start of the workshop (installation cannot be supported during the workshop as it can take some time). You can subscribe to the latest version of Adobe Photoshop (or the entire Creative Cloud collection) at the Adobe website. Substantial discounts are vailable for students and teachers. If you're not ready to commit to subscribing to the software, it's possible to run a free trial for seven days. Don't forget to bring your charger!

This workshop will be taught using the latest version of Adobe Photoshop; however the majority of the concepts covered are relevant to earlier versions too. Photoshop is virtually identical on Mac and PC. Where there are small differences in behaviour between the two systems, the tutor will point these out.

After the workshop we’ll share links to comprehensive downloadable/printable online resources (notes, factsheets, etc) – which will be kept up-to-date.

We’re available on social media and email after the workshop for further support on the topics covered.

Further bespoke training in more advanced aspects of the software can be booked – contact us for details.
