About this event

Advanced Class Rep Training is designed for returning or experienced reps who have previously completed NStEP’s Introductory Class Rep Training. This module was developed by four of NStEP’s student trainers who draw from their own broad experiences of student engagement in a variety of contexts.

Advanced Class Rep Training covers the following key areas:

  • Understanding and navigating challenging interactions, challenging environments, and challenging situations.
  • Apply reframing techniques and empathy to overcome challenges.
  • Using the LAPSS strategy to incorporate effective Leadership, Approaches, Partnerships, and Succession Strategies into the rep role.
  • A variety of tools and resources to support class reps in the above areas.

Advanced training is delivered as ‘open sessions’, meaning any rep from one of NStEP’s participating institutions can sign-up for this training. This also provides participants with the opportunity to network and share experiences with reps from other institutions.

Training will be peer-led by NStEP's student trainers. Click here to meet our experienced team of student trainers.

This training session will be held online using Zoom and last for 90 minutes. A link to the Zoom meeting will be provided after registering on Eventbrite. The online training room will open on Zoom 10 minutes before the start time.

All student reps who complete the training will be awarded a digital badge This will be emailed to you using the email address that you provide through Eventbrite when registering. We will also use this to contact you about future training opportunities and online resources.
