Event description

Description

Do you use interview methodologies for your research? Do you manage audio / audio-visual data? Would you like to get more from your collections or know more about how to manage them? Would you like an opportunity to meet with other UCD researchers working with the same techniques and practices, share experiences and build research links?

This two-day inter-disciplinary event offers talks and workshops by leading experts in the field of oral history, interview dissemination and archiving and will provide a unique opportunity for researchers, library, archive and folklore staff to discuss their needs in relation to supports for interview based research collection, analysis, access and archiving.

Dr Rob Perks leads the oral history team at the British Library. His interests include: oral history, memory and narrative: its development, interpretation and presentation in Britain and around the world; oral history and audio-visual archives: issues of collection, documentation, description, access and presentation.

Dr Doug Boyd serves as the Director of the Louie B. Nunn Center for Oral History at the University of Kentucky Libraries and is the current president of the Oral History Association. Boyd manages the Oral History in the Digital Age collaborative initiative publishing current best practices and models for collecting, curating and disseminating oral histories.

Dr Maura Cronin lectured in History at Mary Immaculate College Limerick. She is Secretary of the Oral History Network of Ireland and has been engaged for almost twenty years in teaching oral history principles and practice at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

After the Interview is funded by UCD Seed Funding and supported by UCD School of Irish, Celtic Studies and Folklore and UCD School of History.
