Event description

Description

The Intellectual Disability Supplement to The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (IDS-TILDA) is a national study of older people with an intellectual disability, based at Trinity College Dublin. IDS-TILDA is the first study of its kind in Europe and the only one in the world with the ability to compare the ageing experience of people with an intellectual disability directly to the general population.

On Monday 3rd December, IDS-TILDA in collaboration with the Health Research Board and Minister Finian McGrath, will host a gala screening to launch Ageing with PrIDe – 10 Years of IDS-TILDA. This documentary film follows Mei Lin Yap, a young woman with Down syndrome, as she explores what it is like to age in Ireland. The film tackles the challenges of ageing in a positive way, while highlighting some of the key findings from the IDS-TILDA study. As the launch coincides with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we will also celebrate creativity and diversity with live performances and special guests on the night. There will be a post screening reception that we hope will provide the perfect start to the festive season.
