Description

The British Irish Chamber of Commerce and our sponsors KPMG and Ulster Bank have come together to address the various challenges and opportunities that Brexit has brought about for business interests in the UK and Ireland.

Since the Middle Ages, the UK has been Ireland's most important export market and trading partner for agri-food products. The sector remains of vital importance to this trading relationship today as the UK is the largest importer of Irish agri-food products. Similarly Ireland is the largest UK export market for food, feed and drink. The UK's decision to leave the European Union thus presents a challenge to this historical interdependence. This seminar will explore how to prepare for this change and ensure that the strong trading links forged over the past 900 years continue well into the future.

This Agri-Food Seminar entitled 'The UK-Ireland Agri-Food sector: A Shared History, A Shared Future' will be the fifth installment of the series and will focus on 2 specific topics:

i. Preparing for the Challenge – How Agri-business is preparing for post-Brexit trade.

ii. The UK-Ireland Agri-Food sector: A Shared History, A Shared Future.

Experts, speakers, stakeholders and commentators will address these topics with interactive participation from the audience.

Keynote Speaker for this event will be: Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Mr. Michael Creed T.D.

Announced Speakers:

Dr. Ailish Byrne, Head of Agriculture, Ulster Bank

Patrick Coveney, CEO, Greencore

Nancy Leonard, Director, Tax, KPMG Ireland
