Event description

Description

Cloud AI Bootcamp

The goal of this four day bootcamp is to provide a kick-start to individuals who need to develop deeper proficiency with the range of the Microsoft Cloud AI platform. These days are not “Getting Started with…” the various services and assume a 100-200-level familiarity with the products prior to getting started.

The structure of all 4-days is intended to be hands-on. Each lab should be able to be run in relative isolation, so as long as appropriate pre-requisites are met, an individual should be able to complete a given lab without needing to complete the others.

Emerging AI Developers

Days one and two are oriented towards emerging AI Developers who are interested in leveraging AI-based technologies and services to build intelligent applications. These two days focus on hands-on activities that develop proficiency in AI-oriented services such as Azure Bot Services, Azure Search, and some of the Cognitive Services. For more details about the set of learning objectives, pre-requisites, and a tentative schedule, please see the appropriate details file.

Professional AI Developers

Days three and four are oriented towards professional AI developers and Data Scientists who are interested in developing proficiency tools that will simplify the full data science lifecycle. These two days focus on hands-on activities that develop proficiency in AI-oriented workflows leveraging Azure Machine Learning Workbench and Services, the Team Data Science Process, Visual Studio Team Services, Azure Batch AI, and Azure Container Services. For more details about the set of learning objectives, pre-requisites, and a tentative schedule, please see the appropriate details file.

Agenda

Please note: This is rough agenda, and the schedule is subject to change pending class activities and interaction.

Pre-requisites (Days 1-2 Cognitive Services/Bots)

This workshop is meant for an AI Developer on Azure. Since this is only a short workshop, there are certain things you need before you arrive.

Firstly, you should have some previous exposure to Visual Studio. We will be using it for everything we are building in the workshop, so you should be familiar with how to use it to create applications. Additionally, this is not a class where we teach you how to code or develop applications. We assume you have some familiarity with C# (intermediate level - you can learn here), but you do not know how to implement solutions with Cognitive Services.

Secondly, you should have some experience developing bots with Microsoft’s Bot Framework. We won’t spend a lot of time discussing how to design them or how dialogs work. If you are not familiar with the Bot Framework, you should take this Microsoft Virtual Academy course prior to attending the workshop.

Thirdly, you should have experience with the portal and be able to create resources (and spend money) on Azure. We will not be providing Azure passes for this workshop.

Finally, before arriving at the workshop, we expect you to have completed 1_Setup along with the configuring the following for Custom Vision:

  • Training API Key: The training API key allows you to create, manage and train Custom Vision project programmatically.
  • You can obtain a key by creating a new project at https://customvision.ai and then clicking on the “setting” gear in the top right.

Pre-requisites (Days 3-4 - Professional Dev and Data Science)

Full pre-requisites are below

https://azure.github.io/LearnAI-Bootcamp/lab03.0-bootcamp-pre-requisites/0_README

To summarize, you will need:

  • A Microsoft Azure account where you can create resources, including Application Insights. This could be an organization account, an MSDN subscription account, a Trial Account, or an account provided by your company.
  • A Microsoft Azure Machine Learning Experimentation and Model Management Account.
  • A Windows machine on which you can install software, and which can run Docker. In order to accomplish the steps below, this machine must have Docker and Azure Machine Learning installed on it.

Once you have the above requirements in place, you should be able to execute most of the online Iris tutorial, by performing the below tasks. If you cannot complete all of these pre-requisites, contact the event organizer prior to arrival.

  1. Complete all of the steps you find in the Iris tutorial part 1.
  2. Complete all of the steps you find in the Iris tutorial part 2.
  3. Complete most of the steps you find in the Iris tutorial part 3. You may stop after the section marked Create a real-time web service in one command.
  4. As a result of running the previous step, you should have a Web Service ID. Bring that number with you to the bootcamp to sign in.
