Are you thinking about going back to education ?  Would you like to join a short unaccredited module or achieve an accredited qualification with the option to progress to Further Education or Higher Education and receive a Certificate, Higher Certificate or BA Degree? 

An Cosán are now enrolling for a wide range of programmes across our Adult and Community Education provision, through our classroom-based model in An Cosán Tallaght and our Online Community Education model to individuals all across Ireland.

An Cosán offer a range of affordable short and accessible Access courses, with progression options to Further and Higher Education including programmes in early years education and care, community development, leadership, addiction studies and social enterprise.

How do I apply for a Programme at An Cosán?

Step 1: Attend one of our weekly online live & interactive Open Day Information Sessions

Register to attend an information session by clicking on Select a Date button on this Eventbrite page

  • We will send you a Zoom link and brief instructions on how to join on the day of your session
  • You will need access to a smart phone / laptop and internet to access this online session.
  • If access to technology is a barrier or if you are unable to attend one of the dates listed, please get in touch, by contacting a member of our team directly on email or Phone 01 - 462 8488 and we will be happy to make alternative arrangements. 

Step 2: Review Financial Supports

We know going to college can be an exciting but also expensive experience, and we know biggest barriers people face in accessing education is financial. Many of An Cosán’s courses are funded, and we have also put together a list of financial supports that may be available for you.

Step 3: Register for your Programme using our Online Application Form

To register for Access or Further Education Programmes: Please e-mail

To register for Higher Education Programmes: Our Online Application Form is open for applications. Higher Education Applications are open from April to 23rd July 2021. If you know what programme you want to register on, you can click here to apply today.

Applicants will be asked to submit a Letter of Application by email at the time of Application. A template Letter of Application Form is available by contacting our team. Further details are outlined in FAQ below.

Deadline for all applications for Higher Education Programmes

- Round 1 Deadline Friday 21st May 2021

- Round 2 Deadline Friday 23rd July 2021

As places are limited we recommend you apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Step 4: Your Application is reviewed / Applicant Interview (if required)

You may be invited to attend an online applicant interview zia zoom.

Higher Education Applications will be reviewed:

Round 1: 21st May-4th June 2021

Round 2: 23rd July – 6th August 2021

Step 5: Offer of Place

An Cosán will make offers to successful applicant.

Higher Education Offers will be made:

Round 1: 4th-11th June 2021

Round 2: 6th-13th August 2021

Step 6: Submit Deposit and Payment Schedule

Applicants will be asked to confirm and to secure your place by submitting your Deposit and Payment Schedule before start of programme, if applicable.

Higher Education Places to be secured:

13th-20th August 2021

Step 7: 2021/2022 Term 1 Starts Dates

For Higher Education Programmes:

Induction Week Start – Week beginning 6th September 2021

Term 1 Classes Start – Week beginning 13th September 2021

For Access and Further Education Programmes:

Start dates vary, most will commence early September, please check with if you have any questions

Where do Programmes take place?

You can attend our classroom-based programmes in An Cosán Tallaght or access our Online Community Education model empowering you to learn anywhere, at any time, using the latest blended, online and mobile technologies from anywhere in Ireland*.

Our Online Community Education programmes combine face-to-face workshops with online lectures and assignments. Discussion, interaction and teamwork make for both an enjoyable and rewarding learning experience. We use the latest educational technology, and work with Community Partners across Ireland so everyone can access the education they deserve. We make it easy for you to do your coursework at a time that suits you best. We work around your schedule, not the other way around.

Who are our programmes for?

Our programmes are designed for adult learners. If you are ready to learn, we offer a practical and accessible alternative to guide you along the path of learning, helping you at every step of your journey. Our provision spans the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ), through access education, further education to Level 8 higher education degrees.

  • Early school leavers - Did you leave school early, or maybe you just want to learn a new skill? Our further education and training programmes will help you take the next step. We are building a range of post primary courses for learners, helping you prepare for employment or higher education. 
  • Learners seeking Higher Education options - Through online learning, our students can access a range of higher education options that might not have been possible before. Our Programmes are affordable, and you can fit your learning around your own schedule. As a An Cosán learner, you are encouraged to actively engage with your own learning and valuable networking opportunities are available through our learning community.
  • Continuous Professional Development  - In the Community Education sector, we know the challenges of developing our skills and competencies with limited time and resources. An Cosán offers a new, creative approach to continuous professional development with our Accredited Higher Education Blended Learning Programmes.

What courses do we offer?

Higher Education

Institute of Technology Carlow is now a Designated Awarding Body (DAB). An Cosán is a Linked Provider of Institute of Technology Carlow Awards. These programmes are developed in the context of community adult education and lifelong learning and are intended for mature students. Entry requirements apply.
