Event description

How Workday builds enterprise applications in the cloud using metadata

You are cordially invited to attend Workday’s Open House: “How Workday builds enterprise applications in the cloud using metadata”. This will be a small intimate meet up run by our Director of Applications, Enda Dowling, and supported by our architects and application engineers. It will be an opportunity to meet some of our great engineers and get an understanding of how we work.

You will see how our developers in Dublin are changing the way companies do business and interact by exploiting the latest trends in cloud technology. We will also share some insights into XpressO, our unique high performing development language, and talk a little about why we chose this approach and the benefits it brings to application development in Workday.

And of course, knowledge cannot be shared on an empty stomach so there will be various food and drink.

Speaker Bio:

  • Enda Dowling: Enda joined Workday in 2014 as the 5th member of the Application Development team in Dublin. Since then, he has taken responsibility of Application Development across EMEA and built up the team to nearly 200 people. During that time, he has taken on building core components in Workday’s product offering from inception through to delivery.

  • Alan Stears: Alan is a developer on the HR Global team, part of Workday’s HCM product and was one of the first XpressO developers based in Dublin. His hobbies include reading, gaming, and not having to compile code or deal with null pointer exceptions anymore.

  • Ryan Rico: Ryan is an application architect for Workday Learning, our latest product built out of Dublin. As a purveyor of fine XpressO metadata for over five years and experience building our Financial, Recruiting, HR Compensation, and Learning applications, he is well placed to give a view of our internal language, XpressO.

  • Gearóid Healy has been a manager in Workday for over two years. He joined in the early stages and continues to ride the wave our application developments hyper growth in Dublin. He has managed teams for two different Workday application development teams which has made him a go to person for all things application development related! When he is not advocating the power of one he also enjoys running marathons and leading the way in Workday Dublin’s Green Environmental team.
