Learn from the world’s great healing traditions on this 3-day workshop followed by five, 2-hour small group Circles of Trust ©.

About this event

This is the second of four workshops which can be taken alone or in any order. Each module is grounded in the contemporary health care sciences and is inspired by the great spiritual traditions and collective wisdom learned over many centuries.

Participants study in-depth the time-tested primary diagnoses of spiritual suffering: forgiveness, relatedness, meaning, and hope. Through a series of case studies as well as reflecting on personal experience, traditional and contemporary modes of inner healing are applied to practice. The result is an enhanced ability to recognize and celebrate the final gifts of growth and transformation revealed at the end of life.

What you can expect from this programme

In depth study of the four classical dimensions of existential and spiritual suffering: Meaning, Forgiveness, Relatedness, and Hope.

Learn from the world’s great healing traditions from many cultural perspectives with a special emphasis on Native American and Hispanic traditions.

Examination of the relationship between ethical and religious based decision making.

Study of the current understanding of ‘religious abuse’ as a critical factor for some individuals in coming to peace at the end of life.

Reflection on the correlation between the traditional stages of human development and the stages of faith development, especially as it impacts end of life care and bereavement.

Define, compare, and contrast personal modes of pastoral practice with alternative modes of therapeutic presence.

This module includes the shipment of a ritual item for use at the workshop. Please be sure to include your correct postal address when registering. As it could take some time to receive in the post, do register as soon as possible. We will put the item in the post to all who have registered by Friday 20 May.

Online Requirements and Recommendations

Each participant of the programme is required to have adequate internet connection and appropriate equipment for a Zoom meeting / webinar. This allows for each participant to be seen and heard by their fellow participants as well as the Leadership Team during our highly interactive programmes. It is not allowed to simply attend a workshop anonymously (i.e. with muted video and/or audio).

Participants are also required to be present in an appropriate, stationary space with access to audio and visual privacy as needed. Travelling in a vehicle during a programme is unsuitable to the integrity of the workshop and the quality of your experience and the experience of your fellow participants.

Full participation which includes in the interactive breakout sessions and small group exercises that are part of each programme is required.

We highly recommend, if at all possible, to join our online programmes with a laptop or desktop computer to allow for optimal viewing and participation. A working camera and microphone are also essential. In our experience iPads, Tablets, and smartphones greatly inhibit the overall experience for participants.
