Event Information
Description
Ciara Harrison, WHAT Artist-in-Residence 2017, will share her learning from her residency at University Hospital Waterford through an informal lunchtime talk at 1.15pm on Wednesday 6th December in the Artist’s Studio, WHAT Centre for Arts & Health.
Ciara Harrison is a graduate of the National College of Art and Design (NCAD), where she completed a BA in Textile Design (2011) and an MA in Design History and Material Culture (2016). Concerned with gender and the body, as well as fragility and the ephemeral, Ciara creates work which is visually and texturally appealing.
During the Well Festival of Arts and Wellbeing in October 2017, Ciara created a temporary art intervention of "wild" fabric flowers in the foyer of University Hsopital Waterford and presented an individual bloom to each inpatient with their 11am tea/ coffee. Ciara also brought art experiences to the bedside of patients in Medical 5 Ward, Department of Psychiatry and the Orthopaedic and Oncology Wards.
