Pitch to Win:
- Basic ingredients of any pitch: know your audience,know your facts, tell a good story about yourself AND your potential “customers”.
- What specific information are investors looking for? (Market fit, legal, team, etc)
- How to grab attention and make your message memorable.
- How to talk about something that doesn’t exist yet in a way that makes it feel real.
- Practise elements of your pitch, with feedback from tutor and peers.
Learning Outcome
- Focus on what your audience needs. Understand the power of story
- How to use what’s “front of mind” to hold your audience’s attention.
- Learn the strengths and weaknesses of your current pitch style.
Delivered by Steve Rawlings, International author, BBC Academy Trainer and former BBC journalist who helps people come up with new ideas and tell brilliant stories about their work.
Notes
Cancellation Fee: There is no cost for staff attending these courses but you will be asked for a departmental cost code on booking. Your department will be liable for a charge of €75 for 4 working days' cancellation notice and €150 for 48 hours' notice or non-attendance without prior cancellation by email to staffdev@tcd.ie.
Approval for Attendance: Please note that your manager needs to be aware of any planned absence from your area, please discuss with your manager/head of school in advance of booking.
Food Requirements: We offer tea and coffee for short courses.
