Description

During this interactive training, Professor David Shemmings, Co-Director of the University of Kent's Centre for Child Protection, Visiting Professor of Child Protection Research at Royal Holloway College, University of London and Director of the Attachment and Relationship-based Practice programme will focus on:

Day 1

  • Understanding Attachment Behaviour – what is and isn’t ‘attachment’
  • Using principles and insights from Reunion experiences
  • Assessing Parent-Child Interaction with more confidence

Day 2

  • Ways of Understanding Children’s Worlds
  • Producing Confident Assessments in court and at child protection conferences

By the end of the training participants will:

  • Understand and appreciate how to interpret parenting and children’s responses within parent-child interactions
  • Be more confident when presenting assessments and contributing to or writing reports

This training is suitable for psychologists, social workers, residential care staff, family support project staff and other professionals working in the field of child welfare and child protection.
