About this event
After the thorough success of the first two of these walks, which was booked out very fast, Charlie and Marion are bringing you a second opportunity!
We’ll explore the Ballast Pit - starting at the former location of the bottle bank close to the junction of Barnageeragh Road and Skerries Rocks - looking not only at bumblebees but also learning about why it is such an incredible natural resource.
For instance, there are 100 different species of wild bee in Ireland and 70% of them have been recorded here. There are rare pyramidal orchids, the very rare Small Blue Butterfly and lots more.
Come and see for yourself!
Free, but please secure a space for yourself in good time to be sure as numbers are limited!
The terrain is uneven. Please wear good walking shoes.
Meeting point: The former location of the bottle bank at Barnageeragh Road, near the junction with Skerries Rocks.
