Austerity and Recovery in Ireland: Europe’s Poster Child and the Great Recession, is a major new book that assesses the Irish experience of the Great Recession, austerity and the more recent recovery. The book takes issue with the narrative that attributes Ireland’s recovery to austerity policies. It assesses the policy reforms undertaken in response to the crisis and documents the economic and social costs of austerity and recession.
