This workshop will support summer camp leaders and managers in making their camp autism friendly
About this event
Summer camps play a vital role in the lives of young autistic people by allowing them to take part in their interests and hobbies over the summer months and keep in touch with old friends while also making new friends.
Sadly many of the summer camps that autistic people may want to attend can pose a challenge to the lack of supports in place for the autistic community.
In this workshop we will look at the specific supports summer camps can put in place for the following areas;
-Sensory Environment
-Social Interactions
-Scheduling, planning and reducing the unknown
-Teaching and Communication
This workshop will last 50mins with 10mins for questions and will be run by our Training Officer James Moroney. It will be recorded and access will be provided to all who register for 48 hours so that those that may miss the session or experience tech issues will not miss out.
