Event description

Description

With St Brigid’s Day behind us and looking forward to International Women’s Day, join EPIC’s Historian-in-Residence Dr Angela Byrne for a discussion with Dr Leanne McCormick and Dr Elaine Farrell of the Bad Bridget Project.

The Bad Bridget project examines Irish female immigrants in nineteenth- and early-twentieth-century North America who found themselves suspected of criminal or deviant behaviour. It considers 'misbehaving' Irish women who were thought to be sexually immoral, bad mothers or criminals, with crimes ranging from drunkenness to murder.

Join us to uncover some truths about Irish immigrant life in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and to gain a different perspective on the American success story!
