Event description

Description

“I was mostly looking forward to the food when I arrived at Ballinwillin, and it didn’t disappoint – I’ll be dreaming about that wild boar belly for a long time to come. What did surprise me was how relaxed and restored I felt by the time I left; the combination of fresh country air, peaceful surroundings, happy animals, delicious meals and Pat and Miriam’s kind and generous hospitality did me the world of good. I would definitely recommend the RetrEATs at Ballinwillin for any food lover in need of a break from the rat race.”

Jocelyn Doyle, Easy Food magazine

Hosted by Pat Mulcahy, aka The Mindful Farmer, our January 2019 RetrEAT is the perfect start to invest in yourself at the start of a new year. Pat will share how he incorporates mindfulness into his daily routine and explain the techniques he employs to cope with the everyday stresses of running multiple businesses.

Workshops by your host, Pat Mulcahy, and a visiting guest speaker will provide an unique insight into their personal approaches to achieving a work life balance.

This is a residential RetrEAT where guests are invited to immerse themselves in the peace and tranquility of Ballinwillin House Farm.

"Breathing in the scent of the earth, with the only twitter being birdsong, and a wooden stick to lean on, the mind goes quiet even despite itself."
Ireland of the Welcomes

About Your Host – Pat Mulcahy

During his childhood Pat Mulcahy developed a system to cope with the challenges of growing up on a small farm. From as young as 8 years of age, he was practising mindfulness which he acknowledges helped him immensely during his work as a Garda. In 2017 Pat created a “Thinking Path” on the grounds of Ballinwillin House Farm and in 2018 he added a holistic garden with areas dedicated to mindfulness, meditation and forgiveness. He has a huge interest in health and well being and is an advocate for nourishing the mind and body.

“Truly a hidden gem: a security gate at the end of a suburban cul-de-sac opens to reveal Pat and Miriam Mulcahy’s extraordinary 18th century home and farm. Once inside the 80-acre estate, you’ll find deer grazing – and also some unexpectedly modern and luxurious accommodation in a converted courtyard. Magic.”
