The Bealtaine Fire Celebration at Uisneach will take place this year on Saturday 9th May from 5pm - 11pm.

About this Event

The Bealtaine Fire at Uisneach will take place this year on Saturday 9th May from 5pm - 11pm.

Our event will feature the lighting of our ceremonial fire and will have a strictly, limited capacity.

The theme of our 2020 event will be to bring people from the North, South, East, West of Ireland and the world together at the Sacred Centre to celebrate the beginning of Summer and the fertility of Ériu, our Mother Earth.

We are encouraging people to dress in native costumes to take part in the celebrations, bringing all different nationalities together as we light our Bealtaine Fire.

This year will be a fully ticketed event with adult tickets and while there remains no charge for children under 16’s TICKETS FOR UNDER 16’s MUST BE ORDERED WHEN PURCHASING YOUR OWN.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Bealtaine Fire Celebration on Sunday May 9th at the Hill of Uisneach. Postcode - N91WNW2 (works great in SatNav/Google Maps)

Here are some tips to make the event as safe & enjoyable as possible for everyone.....

Temperatures are expected to be very low on the night so please dress well for the weather & make sure that children have adequate layers !

* The event starts at 5pm - You may arrive from 4pm to park.

* You must arrive before 9.00pm.

* The event finishes at 11.00pm - There is NO CAMPING on site.

* Please print out your tickets or save the QR code to your smartphone/wallet & have them ready as you approach the entrance. Screenshots are not recommended; The Eventbrite App works best.

* There will be NO TICKETS for sale on the day at the gate.

* We will have transport up & down the hill for people with lesser mobility.

* You must bring a good quality flash-lamp/torch.(not cell phone torch)

* There will be a selection of food & drinks available to purchase on site.

* There will be no bar on site, you may BYO but please bring empties home with you. There is NO GLASS allowed on-site. This is a community and family friendly event so we ask everyone to act responsibly.

* We ask everyone to bring their recycling/rubbish home with them.

* You are advised to “dress for the weather” with appropriate rainwear/footwear - Please note that it does get cold after sunset. Temps are usually low on the evening, so wrap up warm !

* We ask that you follow the instructions of our volunteer Stewards/Fire stewards/ Parking stewards.

* There is no public transport to/from Mullingar/Athlone so we suggest a taxi.

* If you have mobility issues please get in touch with us by email in advance - tours@uisneach.ie.

* Children are welcome (TICKETED) but must be accompanied & supervised at all times by a ticket-holding adult.

* Dogs are NOT permitted on/off a leash (We are within a working farm) YOU WILL BE TURNED AWAY AT THE GATE.

* Please excercise patience in relation to parking in advance and leaving in an orderly manner, following security/steward instruction.

* Please DO NOT park on public road verges, private driveways around the external perimeter of the event site. Vehicles WILL BE TOWED AWAY. Parking only in designated event car parks.

* Our event team, most of whom are voluntary have worked tirelessly to create and deliver this event. We ask for your support and understanding in keeping this special and unique event family friendly. The event is produced in good faith and we ask for good faith in return.

* The event will be filmed, photographed & may be publicly broadcast - If this is a problem for you please let us know in advance.

* Commercial photographers MUST contact us in advance.

* You are invited to bring a small piece of wood from your locality, there will be a collection point near the main fire and these will be added to the Bealtaine Fire.

Terms and Conditions

Below please find some important safety information; these terms and conditions apply between you, the patron of Uisneach & The Bealtaine Celebrations (the "festival"). Please read these terms and conditions very carefully, as they affect your legal rights. Your agreement to comply with and be bound by these terms and conditions is deemed to occur upon purchase of tickets. If you do not agree to be bound by these terms and conditions, you should not purchase tickets.

In these terms and conditions "staff" means any individuals attending the festival who is either (a) employed acting in the course of their employment or (b) engaged as a consultant or otherwise providing services to Uisneach Bealtaine Celebrations and accessing the site in connection with the provision of such services.

"You", "attendee", "the public" or "patron" means any individuals attending the festival and who are not staff, except staff who are off-duty.

"Kids" means any individuals attending the festival who are aged 12 or under.

"Teens" means any individuals attending the festival who are aged 13 to 17.

"Children" means Kids and Teens collectively.

“Site" means the grounds upon which the festival occupies.

Security; you may be body and / or bag searched at the entrances. Persons suspected of carrying items that may be used in an offensive or dangerous manner, or carrying out illegal activities onsite may be searched. Any person who refuses to be searched by a steward or other person acting on the behalf of the Promoter will be refused admission or ejected from site.

Entry to the premises will be refused to any person who appears to be intoxicated, acting in a threatening or violent manner.

Anyone caught burning toxic materials, creating fires, throwing gas canisters or aerosols onto fires, throwing missiles or taking part in anti social behaviour that en- dangers other attendees will be evicted from site. THIS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED FROM ANY ATTENDEE.

Security staff will be patrolling throughout the event. They are there to help and are also watching for suspicious behaviour. All public areas are CCTV monitored for you safety.

Uisneach Bealtaine Celebrations is a festival for the whole family so patrons are reminded that children will be present in all public areas at all times.

Children who are attending the festival must be accompanied by a parent or guardian aged 18 or over at all times It is therefore paramount that all children are supervised at all times and any children found to be unsupervised, or misbehaving could be asked to leave the festival along with their parents or guardians. Please note that we will not tolerate the consumption of alcohol by persons under 18 years of age.

If a child is found, please notify the nearest steward immediately who will radio the Control Centre. A steward will then go to the location of the lost child. A parent who has lost a child should follow the same procedure, making contact with nearest steward. We advise that all parents write their mobile numbers on a child’s wristband which is located at the main gate. Always hold hands or carry your children through busy areas. Educate your children on what to do if they get separated from you. Advise them to stay where they are and not to move or go with anyone until a Garda or Steward approaches them. They should indicate their phone number to the Garda or Steward.

Fire and Safety

Anyone involved with starting a fire or throwing anything onto a fire will be evicted from site.

The event is outdoors. You are strongly advised to bring appropriate clothing and footwear to protect against inclement weather.

Sleeping or camping in vehicles in the car parks is NOT permitted.

Please do not climb on any trees onsite. It is dangerous and may damage the tree.

No entry to any of the lakes or ponds.

Uisneach Bealtaine Celebrations takes place on uneven land with stone track ways, while we take every effort to ensure that suitable walkways are available there will be some areas where care should be taken due to uneven ground conditions. Take care, especially at night and during periods of adverse weather. Strong shoes for walking are a good idea – as is a torch after dark.

Prohibited Items

- Aerosols over 250ml, air horns & megaphones, gas canisters of any size (including nitrous oxide), any items which may reasonably be considered for use as a weapon

- Clothing with discriminating and/or provocative texts

- It is prohibited to distribute flyers or hang posters during the festival

- Illegal substances

- Large or framed backpacks

- Glass containers of ANY kind

- Skateboards, scooters, or personal motorized vehicles

- Bicycles inside Festival grounds

- Fireworks and explosives

- Instruments and laser pointers

- Selfie sticks

- Spray paint

- Tents

- Pets (Except animals that assist people with disabilities).

- No illegal vending is permitted (no unauthorised or unlicensed vendors allowed).

- Drones - Strictly NO DRONES to be flown onsite.

Leave No Trace

When the festival is over it's important to take home everything you brought with you, or dispose of items you do not want in the correct way.


The promoter is unable to accept any liability for personal or property damages, losses (including confiscations) or injuries sustained at this event.

Any personal property brought to the event is at your own risk.

We may prosecute you if you cause damage to the site, infrastructure, or cause harm to any other person onsite.
