Event description
A double bill of Krapp’s Last Tape & extracts from some of Beckett's Letters in the unique location of the church he attended.

About this Event

There is a strong local connection to this year's Beckett in Foxrock production which is a double bill of Krapp's Last Tape ("Beckett's one-act masterpiece" The Telegraph) and extracts from Beckett's Letters. The audience will see Krapp musing about attending church, falling asleep and falling off the pew - possibly in the church where they are sitting; and will also hear Beckett's reminiscences about his old neighbourhood "when I can't sleep I play a round at Carrickmines" (Golf Club).

Veteran Abbey actor Macdara Ó Fátharta plays Krapp while Game of Thrones and Fair City’s Deirdre Monaghan will bring to life Beckett's many memories "Wicklow Mountains more beautiful than ever".

Performance is followed by a wine reception and photographic exhibition of links between the works of Samuel Beckett and the Foxrock area.

Beckett in Foxrock 2020 is the fifth annual celebration of Samuel Beckett's connection with the area. The Nobel Laureate was born and brought up in Foxrock and was a regular attender, along with his mother, at Tullow Church.

Please note that parking at the church is for disabled sticker holders only. Parking at Carrickmines Luas Park & Ride or on nearby roads. Please park safely.

Beckett in Foxrock is organised by Tullow Parish and Mouth on Fire Theatre Company in association with Foxrock Area Community & Enterprise (FACE) with the support of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and Hunters Estate Agent
