Join the Galway Cycling Campaign and friends for a social spin along some beautiful "ROTHAR ROADS" near Loughwell (Leamhchoill). We will travel along quiet roads, through Coillte forest trails and then some gravelly windway routes. This is a hilly route with steep climbs and descents. Bikes must be in very good condition with serviced brakes.
We will start at 10:30 from Loughwell Pet Farm (parking is available here for those who come by car) and finish at 4pm at the same place Loughwell Park Farm. There will then be refreshments funded by BikeWeek2022 for young participants in Loughwell Pet Farm and drinks funded for adult participants. All children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Appropriate raingear should be brought. Bring snack and drink and a packed lunch, rain gear, first aid kit, spare bike tube and any items needed for a day in the outdoors. This is a remote route. We will stick together at the pace of the slowest child and frequently regroup. As the route is quite tough and 30- 40km long it is not really suitable for children under 9 years old.
