The Sustainable Development of Aquaculture

Contributing to the Management of Ireland’s Marine Resource

Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM), Ireland’s Seafood Development Agency, in collaboration with IFA Aquaculture, is hosting a Technical Workshop for the Irish mussel sector on the mornings of Thursday 7 & Friday 8 April, 2022.

Presentations and discussions at the Workshop will address the priorities of the upcoming European Maritime Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund ( EMFAF) to include the following:

- the continued development of a sustainable and competitive sector

- supply of quality, healthy and safe seafood

- documentation of the carbon footprint of the Irish mussel industry and management of marine biodiversity.

The morning workshop, will focus on the mussel sector only. In the afternoon, BIM is sponsoring the IFA Aquaculture Conference & AGM. This afternoon session is being hosted by IFA Aquaculture and will address the interests of its members. On Friday 8th April, the mussel workshop will continue with presentations and a site visit. A corporate rate of €89 - pp ( or €69 pp in a twin/double occupancy room) has been agreed with Hotel Westport for the 7th of April, 2022.
