Biodiversity Walk and Picnic at Ardan Wood (Westmeath)
Date and time
We will go on a plant and tree identification walk and then sit down to have a lovely picnic afterward!
About this event
As part of Biodiversity Week we will be running a nature walk at Ardan Wood.
Ardan Wood is a very special place and home to animals such as red squirrels and badgers. We will have the opportunity to explore this woodland, learn how to identify some of the plants and trees and look out for animals which we might encounter.
We will bring along magnifying glasses, bug boxes and identification keys and explore the woodland as a group.
Once we have explored the woodland, we will stop and have our picnic. We will be bringing along some food, snacks and sweet treats to the picnic! If you have any food allergies, please bring along some of your own food too, as we won't be able to ensure food won't come into contact with allergens.
Our minimum age for this event is 5 years old.
Please carpool where it is possible to do so, car parking is our limiting factor for the amount of people that can attend.
It is essential to bring warm and waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear.
A big thanks to the Irish Environmental Network for the funding they provided which has gone toward the purchase of the equipment we will be using and the food we will be eating.
