About this event
ChangeMakers is a Global Citizenship Education project established in 2012 by Inishowen Development Partnership, Donegal Education and Training Board, Self- Help Africa and Trócaire. Global Citizenship Education is about understanding the world we live in and working to make it fairer and more sustainable. We support adults and communities across Donegal to understand and take action on social, economic and environmental justice issues that have local and global impacts.
The Think Equality Donegal Project is an initiative working to eliminate prejudice, discrimination, and racism across the county of Donegal. We aim to promote Human Rights and positive institutional change, with the goal of full and meaningful inclusion of Black Minority Ethnic Communities, including Traveller and Roma Communities, across rural Donegal.
Art is a powerful medium to understand the world around us. The Bookless Book Club (BBC) is an approach piloted by ChangeMakers in 2021 to explore racial inequality and the Black Lives Matter movement using film, art, music, poetry, podcasts and other media. Following its success, we will partner with Think Equality Donegal to bring you our BBC 2022 which will explore gender inequality- its local and global dimensions and how it impacts us, our community, and our world.
How the BBC works:
Participants sign-up to four weekly 90 minute online (Zoom) sessions. The group is supported over the programme to collectively explore gender inequality, its causes and effects, and our personal experiences with two of our skilled facilitators- Francine Blache Breen and Annette Patton. Each of the four sessions will use a particular medium- art, poetry, music, etc- to support our personal and collective reflection and discussion.
Programme dates:
Participants must commit to attending the four sessions and places are limited to 15 participants. The four sessions will take place on Thursday evenings at 7pm on February 17th, 24th , March 3rd and 10th.
Previous participants have found it a very enriching experience!
A link for the event will be sent to registered participants on the afternoon of each session.
