In an increasingly complex technical landscape, many businesses are confronted with the challenge of understanding how their existing Java / JVM application footprint adapts to the new world of clouds and containers.
In this briefing session, Ben Evans will address the current state of Java technologies and the road ahead. He will discuss how teams and developers are embracing the opportunities presented by Java in the cloud, as well as recent trends such as non-Java languages on the JVM, microservices, functional programming on the JVM, continuous delivery and devops.
Attendees can expect to take away a deeper understanding of how Java and JVM applications fit into a modern technology portfolio as well as risks and opportunities that are presented by the changing technology ecosystem.
Ben Evans is an author, speaker, consultant and educator. He is author of “The Well-Grounded Java Developer”, “Java: The Legend”, the new edition of “Java in a Nutshell” and the forthcoming "Optimizing Java". He is a regular speaker and educator on topics such as the Java platform, systems architecture, security, performance and concurrency. Ben is a Java Champion, JavaOne Rockstar Speaker award and a Java Editor at InfoQ. His career highlights to date include: Chief Architect for Listed Derivatives at DB, performance testing the Google IPO, building award-winning websites for some of Hollywood's biggest hits of the 90s and building multibillion dollar low-latency trading systems.
