Event description
A supportive space for foster carers to come together to address placement endings and disruptions in foster care.

About this Event

Breathing Space

Breathing Space, funded by Pobal through the Dormant Accounts Fund, is part of the Irish Foster Care Association's new Fostering Connectivity Programme.

IFCA, in collaboration with psychotherapist and external facilitator, Noel O’ Driscoll, have developed a new initiative entitled Breathing Space. Breathing Space is a supportive space for foster carers to come together to address placement endings, disruptions in foster care and to identify meaningful resources.

What is Breathing Space?

Breathing Space involves a series of two three-hour workshops. These workshops will be both experiential and psychoeducational in nature.

The workshops will focus on themes of grief, loss, self-care and resilience, as well as providing opportunities for participants to share their experiences in a safe and supportive space. Attendees will be invited to participate in experiential learning; exploring what supports and nourishes them, and to identify and develop individual ongoing resources and practices.

Breathing Space workshops will take place on the following dates:

1. October 3rd:

  • Registration: 9.30 - 10:00
  • Workshop: 10:00 - 13:00

2. October 24th:

  • Registration: 9.30
  • Workshop: 10:00 - 13:00

Who is Breathing Space for?

Breathing Space is open to foster carers who are IFCA members only.

Details on becoming an IFCA member can be found here.

Membership with IFCA is free for the first year for new members.
