As part of One Here Now: The Brian O'Doherty / Patrick Ireland Project, Sirius Arts Centre.
‘There is no thing here but much else’ examines the important role that film has played in the career of eminent New York-based Irish artist Brian O’Doherty (Patrick Ireland). This three-month screening series takes its title from a quote by Brian O’Doherty’s review of Patrick Ireland’s exhibition at the Charles Cowles Gallery (1990) in which O’Doherty playfully and succinctly critiques his alter ego’s installation. Films including Hopper’s Silence (1981), Brian O’Doherty Reviews Patrick Ireland at the Charles Cowles Gallery (1990) and films from the artist’s personal archive will feature in this extensive programme. Runs until May 27.
