Description
2018 Buckland Lecture:
A History of Salmon Management in the British Isles
Dr Ronald Campbell
Buckland Professor Dr Ronald Campbell traces the history of salmon management in the British Isles, from the first published account of the life of the salmon in the early sixteenth century to present day practices. Dr Campbell outlines how scientific knowledge of the day has informed (and mis-informed) salmon management.
Dr Campbell has pursued a long career in management of Atlantic Salmon for the River Tweed Foundation and is currently a member of the Hon. Scientific Advisory Panel of the Atlantic Salmon Trust and of the Spey Fisheries Board Scientific Committee.
This event is hosted by Atlantic Salmon Trust, the Buckland Foundation and UCD Earth Institute.
