Event description

Description

The Bulfin Heritage Cycle Rally (Heritage on a High Nelly) is a two day, leisure cycle event, exploring the heritage and culture of North Kerry and South Clare. Inspired by William Bulfin's unique cycle around Ireland, in 1902, the event will take place on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd of the May Bank Holiday weekend 2020. Throughout this novel cycle journey, participants will engage in guided tours, music, storytelling, local history and folklore, while visiting heritage sites of interest in the chosen localities. The event is promoted by not-for-profit group, Irish Country Roads & Culture Trails and a special feaure of The Bulfin Heritage Rally 2020 will be a "High Nelly Literary Loiter", a saunter on high nelly bikes, commerating the works of writers, John B Keane, Brendan Kennelly and Percy French. The event is a valuable introduction to the heritage and culture, that inspired much of the history, music and storytelling of bygones Ireland. William Bulfin was by no means the usual tourist and his greatest enthusiasms were for places that the usual tourist had not yet penetrated.
