Event description

Description

As part of the European Heritage Open Day scheme (EHOD), the Carey Historical Society (CHS) is providing free guided tours of Bun na Margaí Franciscan Friary as part of its inaugural Bun na Margaí Festival of Heritage. Expert tour guides will bring you on a 45 minute walk of the sites and stories of this historic Abbey, with the Festival seeing the launch of the CHS' 'Bun na Margaí Walking Trail' brochures, as well as an extensive accompanying exhibition.

The programme of events is as follows, but please pre-book your place on the tours at a time of your choosing. Tickets are allocated in a first-come, first-served basis. The weekend is open to families and wheelchair accessible. Any mobility concerns can be dealt with by contacting Fionntán McCarry directly on 07895954189.

The EHOD scheme is organised by the Historic Environment Division, Department for Communities, and the 'Bun na Margaí Festival of Heritage' is hosted in conjunction with our partners Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council and the Heart of the Glens Landscape Partnership Scheme (Causeway Coast & Glens Heritage Trust).
