Dr. David Nyaluke is a lecturer at UCD from Tanzania and is offering a unique perspective on how business works between Europe and African countries.
ABOUT THE LECTURE AND DR DAVID NYALUKE
In BUSINESS IN AFRICA SEMINAR David will highlight transformations that have happened in the last 30 years which have made Africa a formidable economy and market. He will also highlight opportunities and challenges of accessing the African Market and explain how Africa Africa became a global leader in mobile phone money transfer and banking. Key will be also linking doing business in and with Africa and sustainable development and changing perceptions about Africa using decolonial and anti-racism perspectives. Dr David Nyaluke is the UCD-Proudly Made in Africa Fellow in Business and Development.
He researches and teaches on Doing Business in and with Africa and Sustainable Development across 15 business schools and departments of business in universities, colleges and institutes of technology in Ireland including at the Dublin Business School. With DBS students’ union and experience staff team and lecturers David also coordinates the Business and Society Knowledge Exchange Program( BSKEP) between DBS and Amani Management and Technology College of Njombe, Tanzania. In 2019 25 students and 5 members of staff participated in this immersion program, combining co-learning, teaching, volunteering and safari.
David research is within the Area of Africa and the international trade system. His research questions focus on how the international trade system can be reformed in various sectors to enable for sustainable development in Africa and other formerly colonized countries. Before joining Proudly Made in Africa and University College Dublin, David completed a PhD from Dublin City University (DCU). His doctoral thesis investigated trajectories of political and economic development transformation of African states from independence into the 21st Century.
