Two free online workshops supporting women into local politics – There are two dates for this - Wednesday 12th May and Wednesday 19th May - We would ask for you to commit to attending both of these workshops. For further details contact .

1st Workshop - 12th May, 7-9pm

• We will start with a brief overview of gender equality, women's leadership roles and sustainable development.

• Then we will be joined by our 1st guest speaker - Parish Councillor Joyce Idopu, who will talk about her experiences as a local female politician in Teso, Uganda, followed by a short Q&A.

• Dr. Michelle Maher (from See Her Elected) will give an introduction to female representation in politics and the Donegal context.

• Finishing up with a group activity and discussion looking at the challenges women face running for election in rural areas and under-representation in Donegal.

2nd Workshop - 19th May, 7-9pm

• We will begin with a brief overview of 5050 North West from Finola Brennan, NCCWN- Donegal Women’s Network

• Followed by an introduction and welcome to our 2nd guest speaker Rena Donaghey, Cathoirleach of Donegal County Council who will speak about her own experiences in politics, challenges and advice, followed by a Q&A session.

• We will present and discuss the outcome of a recent focus group held to consider what Donegal women suggested would help them enter politics.

• Finishing up with a group activity and conversation considering political roles and support options locally and tangible actions for women going forward.
