On Saturday 26th August the Killester Garden Village Committee hopefully in partnership with Dublin City Council plan to officially open the Killester Community Garden in honour of the Irish WW1 ex-servicemen who settled here. Following the ceremony we plan on having a Community Centenary Celebration on the greens at Abbeyfield and Middle Third to mark the centenary of the completion of the Killester Garden Village and first families moving in.

In August 1923 the first Irish WW1 ex-servicemen and their families moved into the new community of the Killester Garden Village. These 'Homes for Heroes' were built from 1920-1923 consisting now of 289 ex-servicemen houses for these Irish veterans and their families after the Great War.

In August 2023 the Killester community will celebrate this historic centenary celebrating the history and heritage of the Killester Garden Village, the first residents moving in and honoring the WW1 veterans of Killester and those later of WW2.

Please help us in this event by sponsoring it, donating or volunteering. Contact the Killester Garden Village Committee to get involved.
