Event description

Description

We are delighted to announce that our next CHAT will take place at TUDublin Grangegorman, St Laurence's on Friday 18th October at 10.00 am.

We are delighted to launch the partnership between FreedomTech with Sight and Sound Technology Ireland. We are delighted to announce that the Minister for Higher Education Mary Mitchell O'Connor will launch this partnership along with Professor Brian Norton from TU Dublin who will open the event.

10:00 - 10:45 - CHAT - Living Life To The Full with Assistive Technology (AT).
Following the feedback from our latest survey, we noted that a number of you wanted more hands-on Assistive Technology so we hope thanks to our CHAT network to offer you more examples of AT supporting individuals to live life to the full.

10:45 - 11:15 - Sight and Sound Ireland Partnership Launch

11:15 - 12:45 - Accessible Technology and support display from the CHAT community

Please get in touch if you would like to share some AT you are currently using or supporting others to use. We have an interesting diverse programme but are always on the lookout for your stories. Please contact Sarah@freedomtech.ie or DM on Twitter @FreedomTech_Irl

12:45 - 1:30 - Lunch - kindly sponsored by our new partner's Sight and Sound Technology Ireland.

1:30 - 3:30 - Why not stay around after lunch and join Sight and Sound Technology Ireland: for their first drop-in session. Bring your questions and your technology if you need some quick answers, or advice. The session will also include an exhibition of assistive technology from Sight and Sound Technology Ireland and some of their partner companies, so you can be sure there’ll be lots to see and something for everyone!

1:30 - 3:30 AT Passport Info session: Mohamed Mallin from the All Institute Maynooth will run a session on the AT Passport.

We aim to ensure that TU Dublin, St Laurence's Grangegorman is fully accessible but we would appreciate if you could let us know if you have any support requirements.

CHAT is run by FreedomTech, a collaboration between DFI and Enable Ireland. CHAT aims to raise the profile of Assistive Technology in Ireland. CHAT helps to raise awareness about the barriers that currently exist (inaccessibility) and facilitates the sharing of new assistive technology solutions or projects to the community. CHAT is your place to share, listen, learn and build partnerships with others who are interested in supporting independence through the use of technology.

People from a wide variety of backgrounds are involved in CHAT. We are, people with disabilities (expert and non-expert assistive technology users), developers, assistive technology professionals, researchers, suppliers, third level institutions as well as mainstream and disability specialist service providers and professional therapists and other interested parties. CHAT facilitates and creates opportunities amongst members to learn from each other and makes the most of members’ expertise to identify real challenges, gaps and to consider solutions.

We look forward to welcoming you on Friday the 18th of October at TU Dublin Grangegorman

Thanks again and don't forget to keep in contact, keep posting and sharing.
